Steering Group members needed!!  Can you help?

Community Litter Pick

Start your own individual action - here's how......

If you'd like to join the campaign, then we need new member for the Steering Group - see the details below..........

The Green Network is determined to minimise the use of plastic by individuals, organisations and businesses, and plans are already in place to consult with a wide variety of people across the village on how best to work together to achieve this aim.  Much is happening already, but there is more to be done.  Do consider joining the campaign and making this a true community project.  There are FIVE OBJECTIVES to meet.

If you have ideas and a bit of time to help, PLEASE come and join us.  Let's help Downton to do its bit to reduce plastic use and improve the environment.  Our planet needs us!

As part of our campaign to promote sustainable living, we have signed up to the nationwide organisation which helps communities achieve 'Plastic Free' status by supporting people and organisations to remove as much single use plastic from their environment as is possible.

Downton (and surrounding villages) is lucky to have so many people committed to helping the community.

You may have seen local student, Neve Mellodey, out and about picking litter as part of her Duke of Edinburgh bronze award.

A recent report published by Surfers Against Sewage highlights many of the issues concerned with disposing of plastic waste.  It seems that just 12 companies are responsible for a large proportion of the waste that is produced.  Read the report here.
