Downton green network

Local student, Neve Mellodey, is taking on the challenge of regular litter-picking in the village, as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.  She's been out several times and met lots of people - thanks go to Neve for her community-minded attitude.  You can take part and support Neve by joining The Great British Spring Clean.

You can rent out reusable plates and cups for children's parties and raise money for Downton Primary School PTA.  Contact Kate Outhwaite on 07971 518975.

DOWNTON GREEN NETWORK is helping recycle items that cannot be recycled elsewhere in the village.  You can find the 'shed' at the back of Downton Baptist Church.  Amongst other things, you can donate your clean, empty jam jars - or pick up the empties to use when you make jam, marmalade, chutney etc.

The CO-OP are recycling plastic packaging that can't be recycled kerb-side.  There is a blue bin for this purpose by the check-out.

STABLE & WICK sell unpackaged fruit and veg.  You can buy 'zero-waste' products here too, if you take your own containers.

The MEMORIAL HALL committee are discouraging single-use plastics on the premises.

The BOROUGH CAFE sell locally sourced food and avoid single use plastic where they can.

Here's our list - what can you add?
